An annual activity, Pinewood Derby is an opportunity for each cub scout to build their very own wooden car. Kits are provided by the Pack. This is a family activity – have fun brainstorming ideas, designs, and building with your scout!
The race is held on our very own historic track, steeped in over 30 years of Pinewood Derby racing.
Inspire creative engineering as cub scouts build their own floating boats using common recyclable materials found at home. Families and cub scouts have fun experimenting with materials and style works best. Cub scouts power the boat via their own breath, by blowing through a straw.
The race is held using rain gutters and is a good time for all.
The Blue and Gold banquet is a Cub Scout tradition that celebrates the founding of BSA, typically around its anniversary in February. Typically, badges of rank are awarded including Arrow of Light for progressing 5th graders.
Weekend campouts are a great time for a Pack to head out into the woods together for some fun and adventure. Typically hosted at a BSA campsite, cub scouts build confidence and skills by trying new experiences such as outdoor skills, nature science, and hiking. Also, scouts enjoy camp skits and telling jokes to foster relationships and good memories.
The Pack typically attends Camp Ross at the Goshen Scout Reservation for rising and current Webelos. Bordering portions of the George Washington National Forest in Southwestern Virginia, Goshen offers all the scout camp classics (archery, knots, fire building, canoeing, hiking, bb range, skits, campfires, and amazing natural beauty) while also adding some "modern" comforts (gaga ball, a water trampoline, nearly never-ending supply of slushies, and more) for scouts to enjoy for a full week. In addition, younger scouts typically attend Camp Synder for several days.
The Pack arranges opportunities to provide service. This kind of volunteering inspires a community mindset and a willingness to help others.
Examples of service projects include participating in Wreaths Across America, environmental clean up, and collecting items for local kids in foster care.
